Ruby valley trekking is located between Manaslu Conservation Area and Langtang National Park, along with the great combination and varieties of tallest Mountain Ganesh Himal I (7429m.), Ganesh Himal II (7118m.), III(7110m.), IV(7052m.), V(6986m.), VII(6350m.); Manaslu (8163m.), Lamjung Himal (6800m.), and Langtang Lirung (7300m.). Not only the Himalayan scenery but also you see Buddhist monasteries, different species of herbal plants, beautiful landscapes, ruby crystal, zinc mining, different species of birds, different wild animals such as Thar, barking deer, Ghoral, Red pandas, snow leopard, Tiger, Bear, wolf, various kinds of monkeys and musk deer. Along the routes, you can pass twin cascades Ganga and Jamuna which makes your sprit delight. March to May are the best months to discover this route as the trail has colorful rhododendron and other nice blooming flowers.
Ruby valley is also a part of ganesh Mountain and trek over Pangsang la pass offers an excellent view of brilliant landscapes and farm terraces. As you trek to ruby valley, you can experience best passing through several villages of diverse ethnic people including Tamang, Chhetri, Gurung and observe their culture and life styles. As this is new published trek route there are still no lodges – not basic infrastructure, so you stay overnights either in normal houses or in Tented accommodation.

This trek / hiking is suitable for any walker looking for something a less than challenging which does not require you to have any previous trekking experience. If you are healthy and can walk 5 to 6 hours daily, you can do this trekking. However, daily jugging or walking exercise is useful before you depart. Our program always include rest days and build up gradually, in order to acclimatize to the altitude. On trek, you can go at your own pace, with plenty of stops for resting.

Our trek to Ruby valley with Ganesh Himal trek itinerary compared to most walks in this region leading up to the glacier. The particular route is designed for globe trotters who wish to hike but are walking with in a more relaxed manner than take a look this itinerary.

Day 01: Arrived at Kathmandu valley. Transfer to hotel

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, we will receive you with private vehicle and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu within B/B plan. Our representative will give you information about further programs.

Day 02: Kathmandu city tour ! World Heritage sites(1348m) sightseeing.

All aspects of gear and conditions are discussed to make sure you’re fully prepared for the trip, and any last minute questions answered. After lunch we explore this medieval capital. We visit Boudhanath, also known as little Tibet. Then we visit Pasupatinath, holy temple of Hindu where cremation takes place by the holy river Bagmati. Later we visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and Syambhunath Stupa. And transfer to hotel.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Shyabru Besi (1,503m/4,945 ft). 8-9 hrs

Taking local bus early in the morning or a private four wheel drive journey from Kathmandu reaches Shyabru Besi, gateway to the Langtang Valley at the confluence of the Bhote Kosi and Langtang Rivers. Mesmerizing scenic driving and passing through Trisuli Bazaar, Ramche Gaon and Dhunche Bazaar makes you full of fun driving. Narrow and bit adventurous zig zags road but amazing landscape along the way driving will make you good start day drive of the trek.

Day 04: Trek from Syabru Besi to Gatlang (2,337m/7,690 ft), 5 hours

The zig-zags trail goes west up to Bahun Danda Pass and then down to the Tamang settlement of Gatlang, a cornerstone village on the Tamang Heritage Trail or hike to Gatlang by way of Chawatar. Gatlang is a Tamang village with unique customs are famous for craftsmanship setting. Above lies Parvati Kund, popular during Janai Purnima when thousands of pilgrims are attracted to the sacred pond and nearby temple.

Day 05: Trek to Parvati Kunda. Then to Somdang (3,271 m/ 10760 ft), 6 hours

The trail ascends through pine and rhododendron forest to a lunch point of Yuri Kharka before continuing to Khurphu Bhanjyang and then dropping down to the Somdang River, border between Rasuwa and Dhading districts. A sprawling mining compound, no longer functioning but seem locals appealing government to revive it, lies a few hours to the north upriver. The hike passes through a scenic valley featuring the 200 m Chukarma Waterfall. The former mine leaves a lot be explored and is the site of a 1.4 km tunnel bored into the mountain to extract zinc, copper, tin, crystal and even highly-prized rubies.

Day 06: Acclimatization ! Day to discover surroundings

This day, you hike to Lari mine Company. We may enjoy the view of Paldor peak and other Mountain View and overnight at same place.

Day 07: Trek to Pangsang Pass La (3,842m/ 12,640 ft) – Tipling

We commence our trek with pack lunch. Pangsang Kharka is a viewpoint southwest of Somdang village with a broad panorama of the surrounding terrain. To the north are the soaring peaks of Manaslu and the Ganesh Himal Range. The large meadow is graced with a giant entry gateway and is a sensational location for camping and taking in the breathtaking scenery. The whole Ganesh Himal region is blessed with abundant herbal plants. Previously, herbs were taken to Tibet along an ancient trade route and exchanged for salt, livestock, wool and turquoise. Pangsang la offers Langtang ragnes, Ganesh Himal ranges, Manaslu ranges and bit of Annapurna ranges within 270 degrees. Descend to Tipling, a large village that hosts two Buddhist gombas and both a Protestant and Catholic church. Along a ridge top to the east is a gomba and cremation ground for both Buddhists and Christians lined with colorful flags. Being a majority of Tamang people it has beautiful Tamang culture show.

Day 08: Trek from Tipling to Shertung (1,875m /6,188 ft), 5 hours

Descend to cross the Adha Khola on a box bridge and ascend to the sister villages of Shertung and Chalish, regally overlooking the fertile river valley and abundant fields. Shertung is inhabited mainly by Tamang. The name Shertung means ‘place of gold’. According to a legend, two brothers in search of gold were led here by a dream and thus the settlement was born. Tamang people have own rich culture to show for the visitors jhankri or shaman dance, ghode or horse dance, said to have been brought from Tibetan culture long ago. Jhankri (shaman) activity is robust in this territory with the worship of natural forces and indigenous local deities interwoven with Hindu and Buddhist practices. Holy Chyamra dandd, Fyanchyat monastery and Sajyat are the main holy attraction of the village. Spectacular Mountain View of Lapsang Karpo, Ganesh Himal (Yangri) as well as Ganesh II and III can be seen from this village.

Day 09: Visit Hot Springs (2 ½ hrs walk) and trek back Chalish Gaon (1674m/ 5,505 ft), 5 hours

Trek down hill walking to Chalish village taking 30 minutes’ walk, leave your most of the luggage and trek to Tatopani (hot springs) walking 1 ½ hours where pack lunch will be suited to eat (no lodge has built yet). Enjoy half of the day taking bath with one of the best hot spring of this region. After enjoying return back to Chalish (Gurung inhabitants) village.

Day 10: Trek to Jharlang (Ungul) (3000 m/9,900 ft), 6 hours

Roughly walking of 30 minutes, you will reach Mani Danda. This hill station offers an excellent view of Ganesh Himal ranges. Trek continued passing Deul danda, Gobre village (hilly walking slow walking is recommended with your guide and porter), Chhap danda and Bandari Bhir where rock climbing possibility has been seen. So any rock climber who is willing to climb highly recommended but basic infrastructure has not developed yet. After lunch trek continue to Lishne jungle, cross suspension bridge, passing through Chhapchyat village you finally get to Jharlang village (Ungul). One of the best and panoramic mountain View point of the area. This is Tamang village and belongs nearly 200 houses.

Day 11: Jharllang Gaun – Darkha Gaun 850m/ 2805Ft. 6-7 hrs

First part of the trek, we walk roughly about 2 hours downhill to Jharlang Phedi passing paddy terraces with beautiful landscapes. Passing through suspension bridges of Ankhu khola and Chyamchyat as well as Ri village other side of the river finally reach at Darkha gaon. This village is mix culture village of Brahmin people and Tamang as well as Dalit.

Day 12: Trek down hill to Dhading Besi. Return to Kathmandu 7 hours

After breakfast trek all the way down to Darkha Phedi. Roughly about 45 minutes walking downhill there is a local jeep station where take a local jeep down to Dhading Bensi. During the drive, you can pass Kimdang phedi villages, Katunje village and Jyamrung village. From Dhading change another bus and drive back to Kathmandu taking 3:30 hours as a maximum driving.

Day 13: Final departure day

Drop you in Kathmandu International Airport onward your final destination and our trip ends. Wish you your wonderful journey.

Answer: Yes sure !! If you provide us your flights details then you should do request then our representative will come to pick up you on Kathmandu international airport.

Question: Do I need experience to do ruby valley camping trek?

Answer: Actually for this kind of trekking is suitable for keen trekkers/walkers who are able to walk around 4 or 5 hours in a day, with a light weight day pack. For this trekking if you have about little experience would be better.

Question: What kind of accommodation can I expect on ruby valley tent trekking?

Answer: We provide you tourist standard accommodation in Kathmandu and during the trekking routes. the rooms along the routes are clean with cozy bed with nice mattress and blankets. However we recommend you to take your own sleeping bags if you have one with you otherwise, you may rent it while you are in Kathmandu.

Question: What kind of food can I expect in this trek?

Answer: All the guest houses/lodges in ruby valley of ganesh himal, they have attached restaurant and they cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian such as Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, dhal bhat, bread, soups, fresh vegetables (variety depends on the season)
The dinner and breakfast are provided in the same lodge you spend the night every day and Lunch will be provided on the way to next place where you are going.

Question: What opportunities will I have for shower along ruby valley ganesh himal trekking?

Answer: Tea house trekking all the lodges they have shower which you can get it somewhere paying and somewhere without paying however if you are in camping trekking – we provide you hot water bucket then you will take bucket shower.

Question: How do I get drinking water on ruby valley express Trekking?

Answer: During the trekking route there are all places hotel and shops where you can able to buy mineral water and you can buy it for drinking but however we advise against buying mineral water in plastic bottles, as currently there are no provisions for disposing of these. Instead, we provide you boiled water or bringing chlorine tablets to purify the normal water as the normal water is available in camp site/along the way.

Question: Can I charge my digital camera or other batteries on my trip?

Answer: During the lodge trekking there will be more chances to charge the battery. We recommend to you bring extra pair for in case. Remember to bring your adapters! An extra battery will be recommended.

Is there any communication facilities on ruby valley trekking?

Answer: In this trekking route you can get telephone services as well as internet services as well.

Question: Can I use credit cards in Trekking?

No! So, for the trekking routes you need to have cash Nepali rupees because credit cards works only in the bigger city areas.

Question: When should I book my trip and what is the payments terms?

Answer: Because our trips book up months in advance, we recommend booking early to avoid any kind of mis understanding. We will of course make every effort to accommodate last minute bookings.
And regarding the deposit, we prefer 20 % advance deposit of total price of the trip in order to conform your reservation before you arrive in Nepal. And rest of the payment can be made after your arrival in Nepal.

Question: Who will carry my luggage on ruby valley budget trekking?

Answer: We provide porters to transfer your luggage. As we are a responsible trekking tour operator agency, each of our porter carry maximum 25 kilo of your backpack which means 2 guest (12.5 kg luggage of each guest) : 1 porter basis. If you wish to have a private porter, you might also get it on paying an extra cost.

Question: How much distance do I walk each day?

Answer: When walking in the mountains, the distance you cover each day can vary greatly due to gradient, terrain and altitude. As such it is very hard to give specific distances on each day, however you have to be prepared to walk roughly about 5 hours each day.

Question: Do I need walking polls ?

Answer: Walking pools are recommended but not compulsory.

Question: Is ruby valley of Ganesh Himal trekking different than Ganga Jamuna trekking?

Answer: No. Both trekking routes are same.

Question: How much additional money do I need per day?

Answer: You can allocate US$ 08 – 10 for a lunch / dinner in Kathmandu and it depends on your spending habits. US$ 7 to 10 US$ each day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolates, tea coffee and some drinks while you are on trek.
