Everest Base Camp trek detail itinerary

Our Everest Base Camp Trek has a short about 12 days itinerary compared to most walks in this region leading up to the base camp. The particular route is designed for globe trotters who wish to hike to the base camp of the spectacular mountain but are restricted time-wise. For travelers who wish to reach the Everest base camp in a more relaxed manner can try this itinerary however if this itinerary is not fit you than send us inquiry for tailor made itinerary.

Day 01: Arrived at Kathmandu valley

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, we will receive you with private vehicle and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu within B/B plan. Our representative will give you information about further programs.

Day 02: World heritage site of Kathmandu valley sightseeing.

After breakfast the day will start to our guided trip to cultural world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley; including visits to the pilgrimage sites of Hindus Pashupatinath temple, the world biggest Bouddhanath Stupa, visit Swoyambhunath Stupa also known as monkey temple and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square with temple, unique architectures and Kumari (living goddess) in central Kathmandu . Evening pre-trip discussion and introduce with our fellow trekking staff for your adventure trip.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2886m/9,437 ft). Trek to Bengkar (2698m /8,822 ft.), 5 hours

We take early flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, upon arrival at Lukla, we would be refreshed in one of the hotels and then start our trek to Phakding (2640 m). We trek following a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi. Nupla (5885m) can be seen in a stone throwing distance on the opposite bank. During the journey, we pass several Sherpa villages such as Ghat, Phakding, Tok Tok and finally we reach at Bengkar village.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazzar (3440m/11,249 ft.), 6 hours

The trail climbs from the riverbed on the left bank into the mountain, through a forest to Chumoa. We continue along the trail with many ups and downs; cross a stream, and pass by the tiny village Monjo. We then come to Sagarmatha National Park office where a park entrance fee is to pay. We follow a short walk along the riverbed of this valley where the major river meets each other. Crossing over the Hillary bridge, trek begin steep ascent to Namche Bazar. On the way, we would have excellent views of Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m.). Surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges, Namche Bazar (3440m) is a central hub of the area for food, trekking gears and other necessary goods. In the afternoon, hike to National park museum.

Day 05: Trek to Syangaboche hill than to Khumjung village (3790m/12,393 ft), 3 hours

We walk up to the syangaboche hill station which is about 3900m/12,753 ft to explore the best Himalayan scenery including Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawche, Kwangde .. etc within 360 deg angle. This is one of the most highlighted place of whole journey. Than we walk downhill to the sandy ground Khumjung village. In the afternoon, you can visit khumjung monastery and khunde hospital if you like. It is a one of the biggest settlement of Sherpa community. We can also enjoy the splendid view Himalaya from here.

Day 06: Trek Dewoche village via Tengboche hill (3867m/12,645 ft.), 7 hours

The trail goes ahead leaving a steep cliff that drops down to the Dudh Kosi. During the journey, we would have a panoramic view of the Himalayas such as Ama Dablam (6812m), Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse (7855m) and Tawoche (6501m). We would visit Trashinga, Phunki Tenga and reach Tyangboche. Now, we ascend towards Tengboche Monastery where we visit to see how Buddhist monks pray. Tyangboche hill offers a good view of sun rise and sun set at Everest and Ama Dablam. Than we head downhill walking to dewoche village where we stay overnight.

Day 07: Trek to Dingboche (4260 m/13,930 ft.), 6 hours

We trek from Tyangboche to Dingboche (4260 m.). Leaving Tyangboche at the backdrop, we descend through a rhododendron forest and enter Deboche. Crossing a suspension bridge at Imja Khola, we head towards Minlinggo and inter Imjatse Valley beneath the mighty peaks of Ama Dablam, Nuptse and Lhotse. Dingboche is dry and big villages with lodges and guesthouses.

Day 08: Acclimatization at Dingboche village

Today, we acclimatize at Dingboche to be familiar with the local climate. Today, we hike to Dingaboche hill to get acclimatize. Hike to Chhukung is optional, it also provides majestic view of Island peak, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Tawoche peak and others. In the late afternoon, we come back to Dingboche and take rest.

Day 09: Dingboche to Lobuche (4930 m/16,121 ft.) , 5:30 hours

It is our turn to head towards Lobuche from Dingboche which is situated at a distance of five and half hours normal walk. The onward trail is gentle up to Pheriche village. Along the trail, we would be privileged to have panoramic views of the Mt.Tawache, Ama Dablam, Pokalde (5741m), Kongma-tse (5820m) and the great wall of Nuptse. We would have lunch at Dugla (4595m) and trek to Lobuche.

Day 10: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5364m/17,540 ft) , 7 hours

Having breakfast at Lobuche, we trek to Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep (5140m.). It is the most rewarding section of the trek. Our trail winds up through rocky path and Khumbu glacier. The view of Nuptse, Lho-La and Khumbutse appear at a stone throwing distance. Visit Everest Base Camp and come back to Gorakshep.

Day 11: Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5545m/18,132 ft). Then to Pheriche (4243m.) , 9 hours

We trek from Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5545m.) and trek to Pheriche (4243m.). Early morning, we get ready to climb Kala Patthar (5545m.) and enjoy the view of sunrise. We would see Mt. Everest, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku and many more from Kala Patthar. Himalayan Rescue Association Aid Post is available at Pheriche helth post where foreign volunteer doctors are providing medical treatment.

Day 12: Pheriche to Tengboche (3867 m/12,645 ft.) , 6 hours

Trek from Pheriche to Tengboche (3867 m.). We would visit the research center and trek to Tyangboche. During the route, one can enjoy descending through rhododendron forest. Teangboche is famous for the oldest monastery. From the monastery, one can enjoy the splendid view of Ama Dablam, green hills and pristine river.

Day 13: Tyangboche to Namche Bazaar (3440 m/12,249 ft) , 7:30 hours

Finally, trek descends from Tyangboche to Namche Bazaar (3440 m ) passking several villages. Sanasa and Lagusasa are the most famous one. You will catch the way descends from Gokyo valley. We trek further more twenty minutes to find lodge for lunch and a short pause. After Lunch at Sanasa, we hike up to Khumjung village where one can visit traditional villages landscapes. You might also visit Hillary Hospital located in Khunde. And in the mean time, we follow the trail to Monastery which offers Yeti Scalp. Finally, we come to Namche Bazaar in the late afternoon.

Day 14: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2886 m/9,337 ft.), 8 hours

We trek to Lukla with teh same trail like we use on ascend. It is the last day of our trekking. Upon arrival at Lukla, we would get refreshed and take rest.

Day 15: Mountain flight from Lukla to Kathmandu.

We board our early flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, we would be received by our representatives and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, go for shopping or request us to discover Kathmandu as a guided trip on additional cost.

Day 16: Final departure day

Drop you in Kathmandu International Airport onward your final destination and our trip ends. Wish you your wonderful journey.

Answer: Yes sure !! If you provide us your flights details then you should do request then our representative will come to pick up you on Kathmandu international airport.


Question: Do I need experience for Everest Base Camp / Kalapatthar Trekking?

Answer: Actually for this kind of trekking is suitable for keen trekkers/walkers who are able to walk around 4 or 5 hours in a day, with a light weight day pack. For this trekking – yes, you need to have experience in high altitude – somehow about 3000M above sea level.

Question: What kind of accommodation can I expect on Everest Base Camp / Kalapatthar Trekking?

Answer: We provide you tourist standard accommodation in Kathmandu and during the trekking routes. the rooms along the routes are clean with cozy bed with nice mattress and blankets. However we recommend you to take your own sleeping bags if you have one with you otherwise, you may rent it while you are in Kathmandu.

Question: What kind of food can I expect in Kalapatthar trek?

Answer: All the guest houses/lodges in the trekking they have attached restaurant and they cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian such as Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, dhal bhat, bread, soups, fresh vegetables (variety depends on the season)
The dinner and breakfast are provided in the same lodge you spend the night every day and Lunch will be provided on the way to next place where you are going.

Question: What opportunities will I have for shower along Everest Base Camp / Kalapatthar Trekking?

Answer: Guest house trekking all the lodges they have shower which you can get it somewhere paying and somewhere without paying however if you are in camping trekking – we provide you hot water bucket then you will take bucket shower.

Question: How do I get drinking water on Everest Base Camp / Kalapatthar Trekking?

Answer: During the trekking route there are all places hotel and shops where you can able to buy mineral water and you can buy it for drinking but however we advise against buying mineral water in plastic bottles, as currently there are no provisions for disposing of these. Instead, we provide you boiled water or bringing chlorine tablets to purify the normal water as the normal water is available in camp site/along the way in the camping trekking.

Question: Can I charge my digital camera or other batteries on my trip?

Answer: During the Tea house trekking there will be more chances to charge the battery. We recommend to you bring extra pair for in case. Remember to bring your adapters! And we recommend you to take extra batteries along with you.

Is there any communication facilities on Everest Base Camp / Kalapatthar Trekking?

Answer: In this trekking route you can get telephone services as well as internet services as well.

Question: Can I use credit cards in Trekking?

Answer: No! So, for the trekking routes you need to have cash Nepali rupees because credit cards works only in the bigger city tours / city areas.

Question: When should I book my trip and what is the payments terms?

Answer: Because our trips book up months in advance, we recommend booking early to avoid any kind of mis understanding. We will of course make every effort to accommodate last minute bookings.
And regarding the deposit, we prefer 20 % advance deposit of total price of the trip in order to conform your reservation before you arrive in Nepal. And rest of the payment can be made after your arrival in Kathmandu.

Question: Who will carry my luggage on Everest Base Camp / Kalapatthar Trekking?

Answer: We provide porters to transfer your luggage. As we are a responsible trekking tour operator agency, our each porter carry maximum 25 kilo of your backpack which means 2 guest (12.5 kg luggage of each guest) : 1 porter basis.

Question: How much distance do I walk each day?

Answer: When walking/trekking in the mountains, the distance you cover each day can vary greatly due to gradient, terrain and altitude. As such it is very hard to give specific distances on each day, however you have to be prepared to walk roughly about 5 hours each day.

Question: Do I need walking polls for Everest Base Camp / Kalapatthar Trekking?

Answer: Walking pools are recommended but not compulsory.

Question: What is ebc trek? Is ebc is similar to Everest base camp trekking? Kalapatthar Trekking?

Answer: Everest base camp trek is called ebc treks. And kalapatthar trek is also same trekking.

Question: How much additional money do I need per day?

Answer: You can allocate US$ 08 – 10 for a lunch / dinner in Kathmandu and it depends on your spending habits. US$ 7 to 10 US$ each day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolates, tea coffee and some drinks while you are on trek.
