KATHMANDU VALLEY : |
Valley of the Gods: It is said that in Kathman du there are more gods than people. Wandering through winding alleys with dark, leaning windows of intricately carved wooden Newari designs, numerous little alcoves shelter statues of gods adorned with vermilion, rice and marigolds. The medieval city of Bhaktapur is a living museum, with towering palaces, giant stone lions, mythical beasts, and doors of beaten gold. Here, people live in much the same way they have for centuries, within view of the magnificent temple Changu Narayan on its hilltop outside Bhaktapur. Tibetan Buddhist communities thrive around the Stupas at Boudhanath and Swayambunath, where momo dumplings are the favourite tasty treat. Local artisans make Kathmandu a paradise for retail therapy, with centuries old craft traditions. For the details about the tour or sightseeing places you may go to the “Attractions of nepal ” A famous guide book. |
