Dudh Kunda [ Milke lake ] : Everest Region Trekking in Nepal !!

Newly published the trekking trail Dudh kunda is popular trail in Solu Khumbu region though less high then the neighboring in Khumbu Himal range. Dudh Kunda Lake(Milky lake) is situated at the foot of Number Himal, locally known as Shorong Yul Lha, "Protector of Solu region. Dudh Kunda (which literally means milky lake) is believed to be a holy lake and the locals believe that taking a dip in the holy waters will have the wishes granted also where you will enjoy and see panoramic Himalayan views of Everest, Number, and Everest Himalaya range etc also Green forest with Rhodendrendon flowers, pine tree + wild animals /birds such as Himalayan Thars, Bears, Leopard, Jackle, pheasant, and Milky lake. Dudh Kunda Trekking trail leads you through dense forests of rhododendron and a variety of wildlife. The hospitality of the locals is one of the most heart warming experiences of the Solu area.

Day 01: Receive you in kathamndu international airport.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathamndu valley: 
Day 03: Katmandu - Jiri (1860m) 5 hrs
Day 04: Jiri - Changma Danda (2500m, 5 hrs
Day 05: Changma Danda - Sete (2575m), 5:30 hrs
Day 06: Sete - Junbesi (2675m), 6 hrs
Day 07: Junbesi - Manidingma (2350m), 6 hrs
Day 08: Taksindo- Sarkaripati- Sarsarbeni , 6:30 hrs
Day 09: Sarsarbeni – Dudhkunda, 5 hrs
Day 10: Dudhkunda- Sarsar beni , 5 hrs
Day 11: Sarsarbeni-Manidingma - Khari Khola (2072m), 5 hrs  
Day 12: Khari Khola - Payang (2835m, 6 hrs
Day 13: Payang - Rokhumba (2600m), 5:30 hrs
Day 14: Early morning flight to Kathmandu. Finish the trips.

Suggested Itinerary in details : 14 Days

Day 01: Receive you in kathamndu international airport. Then transfer to hotel by private car. If you have time, just couple of hrs time sightseeing around downtown Thamal.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathamndu valley: 
During this day you will have amazing sightseeing by private car to Swayambhunath stupa, Kopan Gomba, Boudhanath stupa, Kathamndu royal palace ( Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square)

Day 03. Katmandu - Jiri (1860m): Early morning three hours drive along the Tibetan/Tibetan border road to Lamasangu. Turn off onto the road beginning built to Jiri. The road twists and turns its way through Tamang and Chetri villages to reach Jiri about five hours later. Camp at the road head.

Day 04. Jiri - Changma Danda (2500m): From Jiri walk through pine forest and descend top of the Khimti valley at Shivalaya (1760m) and then steeply up to Sangbadanda (2220m). An ascent of half hour past long stone-carved walls brings us to Changma Danda (2500m).

Day 05. Changma Danda - Sete (2575m): Descend from the pass to the Sherpa village of Bhandar. Descend to cross a wooden bridge and then descend to follow the Likhu Khola. Cross-via a suspension bridge and continue to Kenja (1630m). Ascend to Bakanje or Sete to camp.

Day 06. Sete - Junbesi (2675m): Begin the long but fairly gradual climb to the Lamjura pass (3530m). There are fine views from the pass (if weather permits). The trail now descends through pine forest to the settlement of Thagdobuk and then to Junbesi (2675m), an attractive Sherpa village situated amidst beautiful surroundings. Camp beside the Junbesi Khola.

Day 07. Junbesi - Manidingma (2350m): Cross the river and take the left hand upper trail to the Salung ridge. First view of Everest from here, also views of Thamserku (6623m) and Kusum Kangaru (6369m). About twenty minutes below the ridge is Hotel Everest View Lodge, which has good large glasses of hot lemon tea. Descend to Ringmo Khola for Traksindo Pass (3200m). A few minutes below the pass on the east side is Traksindo Monastery. Stay Overnight

Day 08 Taksindo- Sarkaripati- Sarsarbeni: Early morning start. Cross the Taksindo pass (3060m) and take the small path on the right of the chorten. Initially level walking along the ridge and then a steep climb through old rhododendron forests to reach sarkaripati at 3503m. Lunch in a small clearing in the forest. After lunch, hike though the forest, up and downhill to reach beni (4036m) Camp in Sarsarbeni.

Day 09 Sarsarbeni - Dudhkunda: Early morning start to get the best views of Numbur (6969m), Khatang (6853m) and Karyolung (6396m) on the way to Dudh Kunda. Steep climb uphill to reach the campsite at 4589m. Pass Kala Kund more popularly known as Bhoot Pokhari (meaning Ghost Lake). It is considered bad luck to look at this particular lake after viewing Dudh Kunda (meaning Milk Lake) so people generally view this lake on the way up. After lunch, very short hike to Dudh Kunda, which is a pilgrimage site for both Hindu’s and Buddhists. View the lake and the number glacier. Return to camp for the night. Altitude of the lake 4651m.

Day 10 Dudhkunda- Sarsar beni : Early morning excursion to a remote pass that leads to lukla, the gateway to Everest. This pass is very rarely used as it is far from the main trail leading to the Everest area. Altitude of pass 4907m. Lunch in Dudhkunda. Afternoon hike downhill at first and then a short but steep climb uphill to reach Beni. Camp by the river.

Day 11.Sarsarbeni-Manidingma - Khari Khola (2072m): Hike along the ridge for about 2 hours, level walking with chances to see many bird varieties: Danphe- the national bird of Nepal, pheasants, drongos. Steep hike downhill through rhododendron forests for about 1.5 hours to reach Taksindo Pass (3060m). Lunch at the pass. Descend to cross the Dudh Koshi (milk river) via the Swiss-built suspension bridge. The trail now turns up the Dudh Koshi valley through the large spread out Rai village of Jubing to Khari Khola village (2070m), camp behind the schoolhouse.

Day 12.Khari Khola - Payang (2835m): The trail descends from the village, crosses a stream beside water driven mills, then ascends to pass Kharte (2830m), and then through forest either over the Kharila or on a newer lower trail to Payang. Ascend to reach Payang Danda where our campsite is situated.
Day 13.Payang - Rokhumba (2600m): Follow the trail down to Surkhe on a tributary of the Dudh Koshi. Ascend to Lukla for Lunch. Afternoon free for relaxation.
Day 14. Early morning flight to Kathmandu. Finish the trips.
