Manaslu Circuit via Nubri Valley Trekking in Nepal !!
Larkya La Pass which cuts behind the Manaslu Massif is one of the area recently opened to trekking and this trek offers some of the finest trekking in the Himalaya wilderness.
Starting a scenic drive to Gorkha Royal Palace (old capital of Shah Dynasty) or direct drive to Aurughat then you trek up the wild Buri Gandaki River, through rough gorges slicing between Himalchuli (7890m) and Ganesh himal (7429m). The trails are steep but your first of the classic peak of Manaslu (8165 m) dissolves the fatigue and the Buddhist prayer flags and Chortens seem to offer spiritual support as you climb towards your goal-Larkya La Pass (5153m). The views of Manaslu and the neighboring peaks are worth the effort, and time is spent on the pass taking photos or just preserving the scene in your mind's eye. A steep descent into the Marsyangdi valley is rewarded with a delightful walk back along the river through small villages and across Crystal Rivers to Besisahar. You might also continue your trekking tours to Pokhara via Ghalegaon - Begnas lake.

Suggested Itinerary: 15 Days
Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu (1348m) & transfer to Hotel
You'll be met at the airport by a representative from the Gokyo Treks & Expedition P. Ltd. Our representative will transfer to Hotel and will have welcome drink in the evening at the traditional Nepalese cuisine.
Day 02: Full day Kathmandu valley Guided tour. Our Guide will take around Kathmandu to show its back ground and history, visiting temples, monasteries and colorful city itself gives you a picture of Nepal.
Day 03: Kathmandu – Arughat (700m) 8hrs.
After breakfast at Hotel in Kathmandu, we will drive to Arughat Bazaar for 8/9 hours. Arughat Bazaar is one the beautiful small town of Gorkha District which is also famous for the trade center of upper part of Gorkha District and Dhading District.
Day 04: Arughat – Soti Khola (1000m, 5hrs)
Trek head north, following the Bhudi Gandaki in the low country path surrounded by rice paddies and picturesque hamlets. After climbing briefly to Kyoropani, path descends once again to the river and our campsite at the confluence with the tributary of Soti Khola. It is not a long day, and perhaps we have time for a refreshing swim sometime during the day for it is hot in the low country.
Day 05: Soti Khola - Machha khola (1300m, 5hrs)
The country changes, the broad valley narrows and at times the trail are cut into the steep valley side, which is densely forested. We pass a number of small villages, tucked into the hillside, until we reach a widening of the valley, opposite the point where a large tributary stream enters the Bhudi Gandaki. The terraced farmland here belongs to the village of Laphu Beshi. Once again descends to the wide, sandy river bed and follow a path, which runs below the steep, craggy valley side. At length, we have to climb up once again on a trail to Machha Khaola. We camp outside the village, which has a number of tea shops.
Day 06: Machha Khola to Jagat (1340m) 6 hours.
After crossing Machha River and Khrola besi, there is a hot spring called "Tatopani". The trail follows forested area after this toward Dovan. Below Dovan, there is a huge rapid at Budhi Gandaki. As the elevation increases, the rapids and the scenery undergoes a complete transformation. At Jagat, there is a police check-post where your trekking permit will be checked. Overnight at Tented Camp.
Day 07: Jagat – Philim - Deng (2160m, 7 hrs)
After descending a long series of stone steps to the river, trek climbs a terraced hill to Saguleri, from where we can see the impressive Sringi Himal, 7187m. We Cross the river again at Ghata Khola, the path splits, with the right–hand branch heading off towards the Mustang. Our route continues upstream, through a gorge section with towering walls. We cross the river three more times in the next two hours to avoid difficult valley sides and then climb up over a further steep spur to reach the village of Deng, where we camp.
Day 08: Ghap to Lho 3180m. Today is a wonderful trekking day; soon after leaving Ghap, we ascend for an hour through a dense, cool forest, crossing the Bhudi Gandaki River once on a wooden bridge, climb on smooth, stone steps and eventually arrive at Namrung, at 2540 m at the Tibetan-run lodge. As we gain altitude, we reach alpine territory and are treated to increasingly broad mountain views. Namrung village is the start of Nubri, the region of purely Tibetan inhabitants speaking a dialect of western Tibet. A few hours later, we reach the village of Lihi at 2840 m, a substantial altitude gain. Lihi houses an old Gompa, and is spread along the trail with its billowing fields of barley, guarded by 'bear watches'. We are climb gently now; soon we cross a large stream flowing down from the Lidanda Glaciers and reach the picturesque Tibetan village of Sho at 3000m, where we stop for lunch. After an hour we reach at Lho, where we are treated to breath-taking views of Manaslu itself. We set up camp in Lho, Sunset and sunrise from the campsite are wonderful, and the small Gompa.
Day 09: Lhogaon – Samagaon (3360m, 4hrs)
Walking through the upper reaches of Lho, with the snowy peaks of Manaslu ahead of us in the distance, we pass the new Gompa and then ascend through light forests next to a small river to reach the Tibetan settlement of Shyla, where the villagers are often out in the fields. Another few hours of trekking through classic alpine scenery leads us past Tibet grazing settlements, the train to Pung Gyan Gompa, and then Sama Gaon, or Ro, as the locals call it. Sama Gaon sits in a bowl at the foot of the pastures leading to the high peaks, with Mani walls, a small Gompa and tightly packed rows of houses at the lower reaches of village, and the large Gompa at the upper reaches. The people settled here from Tibet over 500 years ago, and the two gompas date from this time, both having unique architecture and built of wood. The Tibetan villages here have entrance gates which are very distinctive from the Tibetan ones, and they maintain an active trade with their co-religionists in Tibet (notice the Chinese brandy and beer on sale). If the weather is good, you will see the village women weaving wool (baal) from Tibet into gowns - which are then traded back to Tibet. Taxes were actually paid to the Dzongka Dzong (fortress) at the border of Tibet, a few days walk from Sama Gaon, as late as the 1940's until it was taken over by the Gorkhas in the late 19th century. Later, after 1959, the region was home to Tibetan guerillas, and thus closed to trekking until 1992.
Day 10: Samagaon – Samdo (3780m, 3hrs)
Another day of incredible mountain views during the walk up to Samdo, an easy three hours away. En route we pas the long Mani walls at Kermo Kharka, after which we spot the entrance chorten of Samdo high on a bluff. We descend back to the Bhudi Gandaki and cross a small bridge before another short climb to the 'Kane' entrance of Samdo; look back down valley for great views. The villagers of Samdo came across the border from the village of Riu after 1959 and built their new village here, at their old herding settlement (see below). Samdo village is a collection of houses and lodges at 3850 m, and most trekkers miss the heat of a week ago as we huddle around the stove and a wind from Tibet batters the windowpanes. Get out and take a walk around the village, where the inhabitants live an essentially Tibetan lifestyle, herding their yaks, sheep and goats, training their horses and planting barley. There is a small home Gompa in a house mid-village which we visited during our last village, a Puja being held by several of the reincarnated lamas living in the Samdo; Overnight at Tented Camp.
Day 11: Samdo – Dharamshala (4390m, 4hrs)
The once large Bhudi Gandaki is now merely a stream as we continue to follow its course ever upwards. Everywhere you look are mountains, as spectacular as they get and Manaslu is particularly impressive. After crossing to the East bank of the river, we reach the last permanent settlement in the valley which is called Sumdu. Above the village we cross the stream which runs down the Gya La (pass), the pass to Tibet, and there are the ruins of another village here known as Larkya Bazaa. Presumably this village thrived on trade with Tibet over the nearby Gya La, a trade which is now much diminished. Nearing the Larkya Glacier, we reach a lodge at 4450m which has been built to serve the travelers crossing the Larkya La.
Day 12: Dharamshala – Larkya pass (5130m) – Bhimthang (3660m, 9hrs)
After a short climb above the lodge, we reach the ablation valley on the North side of the Larkya Glaciers. There are views of Cho Danda and then of Larkya Peak. Finally, we walk across the moraines of the glacier, making a gradual ascent which becomes steeper only in the last section to the pass. From the pass, there are outstanding views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kanguru and the huge Annapurna II. Initially, there is a steep descent over snow and then screed, to reach the ablation valley trail to Larkya Kharka. A further hour on a moraine ridge path leads to Tanbuche 3900m in pleasant forest. (Note that the Larkya La is normally quoted at 5115m or so, I have it from a surveyor that the correct altitude is more like 5130m)
Day 13: Bhimtang to Dharapani 1860m.
A chilly but beautiful morning, as the sun hits the peaks around us long before the campsite. After leaving the grazing fields of Bhimtang, we cross a boulder-strewn river and head down through open forests of brilliantly blooming rhododendron, past the Kharka below Bhimtang. We'll lunch at a small tea-house, and then continue along the rocky river-bed and sliding hill-sides to several small, green villages, a sign that we've reached lower altitudes. Eventually, after a somewhat long but very scenic day, we reach the large village of Tilje village which are a mix of Manangis (of Tibetan descent) and Chhetris (Hindus), so have a unique architecture and culture, and eat mix foods - Dal Bhat, buckwheat dhiro, tsampa and Tibetan salt-tea. Overnight in Dharapani.
Day 14: Trek from Dharapani to Jagat (1300m):
It takes about six hours. You trek all the way over a descended path along the bank of Dudh Khola (river) and Marshyangdi River. On the way, you walk through pleasant villages such as Taal which is an attractive village with a pretty waterfall and you can enjoy the sight of lush green hills. Eventually, you come across Jagat which is a stone village situated on a shelf, that juts into the precipitous Marshyangdi valley.
Day 15: Trek from Jagat to Bhulbhule: (860m)
It takes about 5 hours. A steep trail descends from Jagat through Marshyangdi valley. You cross Marshyangdi River at Syange and walk through Ghermu Path (Ghermu field). This part of the trek is pleasant through a flat leveled path with views of green valleys and villages at some distance. Past this Ghermu field and a village, your trail goes uphill for nearly half an hour to reach Bahundanda. This village is mainly populated by Brahmins, Chhetris and few other ethnic communities. At this point, you descend all the way to Nagdi and you walk for an hour and half flat lever of path to reach Bhulbhule.
Day 16: Drive from Besisahar (820m) to Kathmandu(1348m).
It takes about seven hours. It is a picturesque drive on the way back to Kathmandu along the banks of the Marshyangdi and Trishuli rivers with splendid views of green hills, mountains, farming terraces and colorful villages on both sides of road.

All the works were wonderful, Ram was very kind and did help with some thing. Kamal & Mundre did very help too and they were a good cook. We had very good lock for had a guide like Ram, he know all about of the region including the history of Nepal and the names and uses of all plants. He always stopped for teach us some thing interesting about the way the most important was that he had very patient with us. The most of the time we couldn’t walk fathering but, he always waited us and did help us to cross the difficult pass the way when had some problem he had to met reached a way and he always was very happy .
My only suggestion is that in the future the persons that is selecting the trek in the office of the agency told in detail the hard that this way is even all though it was beautiful and I’m happy that I had the experience the way was very hard for us they must tell to the people that the way of Manaslu Circuit is to the people with very experience walking on the mountains. Even although it was adventure. I'd recommended our experienced guide Ram and his all collegues and as well as Gokyo Treks & Expedition to all of friends.
