Gokyo Valley - 5th Lake Trekking in Nepal !!

Gokyo valley as well as 5th Lake trek takes you to the unbelievable scenery of the remote Gokyo Village and its festival of beautiful turquoise lakes, moonscape-like glaciers, and stunning mountain vistas that include Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu (4th Tallest mountains) on earth. The 360 degree view from Gokyo Ridge is the best in the Khumbu region !

Trek leads you to the main road to Everst Base Camp. On the way, we'll stay two nights in the village of Namche Bazaar for acclimatize. Namche is considered the trading center for the Khumbu region, and people walk from as far away as Tibet every Saturday to sell their wares here. This is also the hub onto which each trail converges, so yaks and people compete for space in this amphitheater style village. Then trail scattered into the several direction. We follow the trail to Mongla Hill offers scenic views of Himalaya. Descend down and walk continue along the Ngozumpa glacier. After 2 days we will be at Gokyo village.

Your arrival into this high mountain valley called Gokyo is welcomed by a string of cobalt blue lakes that continue for the 3-hour hike to Gokyo Village, which sits at the foot of Gokyo Ri (18,300 ft) a huge black mound of rock and dirt. The next morning, you're invited to take the 3-hour hike to the summit of this black, rocky mount to witness the 360-degree Himalayan view offered only from this vantage point. If the Time permits, you might hike to 5th lake, The Himalayas stand like giants guarding the border into Tibet. From 5th lake you'll see much better views of Everest and as well as magnificent views of other 8000-meter peaks.

Suggested Itinerary: 15 Days

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel. If you have time half day sightseeing in kathmandu valley with license holder professional tour guide. (A. )
Day 02: Early morning drive to airport to flight in Lukla & Trek to Benkar 2800m ( B, L, D, A)
Day 03: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3444m). ( B, L, D, A)
Day 04: Namche Bazaar to Khumjung (3779 m) via Syngaboche hill station. ( B, L, D, A)
Day 05: Khumjung to Dole (4200m) ( B, L, D, A)
Day 06: Dole to Machermo (4410m). ( B, L, D, A)

Day 14: Lukla – Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel.

Suggested itinerary in details : 15 Days

Day 01: Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Upon arrival at the airport, you would be received by our representative and then transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m) and then to Phakding (2640m.)
We take early flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m.).After breakfast we start our trek to Phakding (2640 m.). We trek following a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi. Nupla (5885m) can be seen in a stone throwing distance on the opposite bank. In the late afternoon, we reach Phakding.

Day 03: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m.)
Having breakfast at Phakding, we commence our trek to Namche Bazaar (3440 m.).The trail goes along the right bank of Dudh Koshi. Thamserku is standing majestically skyward on the opposite bank. We then reach Benkar. The trail now climbs from the riverbed on the left bank into the mountain, through a forest to Chumoa. We continue along the trail with many ups and downs; cross a stream, and pass by the tiny village Monjo. We then come to Sagarmatha National Park Service where a park entrance fee is to be deposited. We follow a short walk along the riverbed of this V-shaped valley where the river forks Dudh Koshi to the right Bhote Koshi to the left. Now we begin steep ascent to Namche Bazaar. On the way, we would have excellent views of Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m.).Surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges, Namche Bazaar (3440m) is a central hub of the area for food, trekking gears and other necessary goods.

Day 04: Namche Bazaar to Khumjung (3780m.) via Syangboche hill
Taking breakfast at Namche Bazaar, we would be heading towards Khumjung (3780m.) Sherpa village. During the trekking, you can hike to the summit of Syangaboche hill station offers superb views in 360 deg angle. After lunch, if you want, can hike to teh Khunde village for an hrs hiking. Overnight at Khumjung.

Day 05: Khumjung to Dole (4200m)
Leaving Khumjung we have a choice of two trails up to Mong La. The left one goes through the rocks, steep up. The right one is used as yak trail. Both the trails join just before Mong La. After steep down to Phortse Tanga, the trail goes gently to Dole passing through patches of birch and rhododendron forest where the elusive musk deer can sometimes be seen.

Day 06: Dole to Machermo (4410m).
Today we would be trekking from Dole to Machermo (4410m.). Walking along the alpine meadow enjoying yaks and alpine highland birds and flowers, with view of Cho Oyu (8153m) to the North is rewarding one. Overnight stay at Machermo.

Day 07: Machermo to Gokyo Lake (4790m).
We climb up the moraine on the far side of the village and then walk gently downhill to the village of Fanka. The path enters a very steep region where the path is cut into a cliff. Arrive at the foot of a rock staircase and begin the slow climb upwards. We then enter at a wooden bridge over the Dudh Koshi and mark the first of the Gokyo Lakes, populated with its amazing high altitude ducks. Just before Gokyo, there is a Chautara (resting place) covered with prayer flags. Gokyo village can be seen from here.

Day 08: Gokyo Lake to Gokyo Ri (5,360m.) and back to Gokyo.
We climb up to the top of Gokyo Ri early in the morning to have stunning views of the upper Gokyo valley, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and an incredible panoramic view of the whole Khumbu Himalayas like- Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu (8481m), Cho-Oyu (8153m) and Gychung Kang (7922m) and after lunch hike to 4th & 5th lake. Those who explore the glacier and Gokyo 5th lake are rewarded. After sightseeing around there back to Gokyo Guest house for overnight stay.

Day 09: Gokyo lakes to Phortse village, 4 / 5 hrs .
Walk descend to reach the very beautiful village of Phortse, for our second home stay component in Sherpa houses. This village has over 20 Everest submitters, and you meet a lot of them right there in the village. The village is famous for its tolerance and conservation of wildlife, so sights of deer and pheasants is common here.

Day 10: Trek to Pangboche 3930m, 6 hrs
We head up the hill in back of Phortse to the ridge where we look down on Tengboche Gompa across the Dhud Kosi valley. Today's trail also has fantastic mountain views and a trail that rivals yesterdays, though not as long. We contour around the eastern side of Taboche, with a few small crests, for just over three hours to reach Upper Pangboche, where we stop for a look at one of the oldest gompas (500 years) in the Khumbu. From the hotel, one can treated to a sunset over Ama Dablam, Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse. It's a nice walk up past the gompa to another hermitage, tucked away at the mouth of a narrow gorge and a good place to scour the small shops for left-over Everest supplies, as many of the Everest Sherpas come from Pangboche.

Day 11: Pangboche to Namche Bazar.
A wonderful walk along well used yak trails down to the bridge over the Dudh Kosi, through rhododendrons and past ancient, moss-covered mani walls to Debouche, where we'll stop at the ani gompa, or nunnery. Afterwards, we start the steep climb to the spectacularly set Tengboche Gompa, backed by the massive wall of Kantaiega. We'll stop to visit the gompa, have some tea, and descend steeply to Phunki Tenga and the bridge across the river. A last steep climb and some contouring through scrub, pine forests and rhododendron eventually leads us to Kyangjuma, where we stop again for a sunny lunch on the terrace of Ama Dablam Lodge. A further 1:30 hrs of contouring brings us to the Namche Bazaar.

Day 12: Namche - Phakding.
Day 13: Phakding – Lukla.
Day 14: Lukla – Kathmandu. Early morning, fly from Lukla to Katmandu on a twin Otter. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day free for leisure. Overnight hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 15: Drop you to the kathmandu international airport for your onward destination.
