World's Highest Everest Marathon (Held in Nepal)!!
Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon is stated to organize on May 29, every year, since the name of Tenzing and Hillary has been associated with Mt. Everest, marathon will be a most befitting tribute to these great souls who climbed Mt. Everest for the first time in the history of human civilization.
The start line of the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon is at Everest Base camp 5364m (17,149 feet) in Nepal. The marathon finish at the Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar at 3440m (11,300 feet) and the course is a measured 42.195 km (26.2 miles) over rough mountain trails.
For acclimatizing to the high altitude all runners of the Everest Marathon are requested to be in Nepal three weeks prior to the race there may be snow and ice on the upper part and there is considerable exposure along much of the route of the marathon. Experience of rough terrain is essential for Everest Marathon and road marathon experience is not sufficient to run Everest Marathon. Your acclimatization trek begins with a sweeping scenic flight to Lukla. The trek starts from Lukla following many farm villages en route with beautiful views of the high snow capped peaks of the world, and to the highest spot at Kalapatar for the outstanding breathtaking view panorama of peaks and its glacier including Mt. Everest.

Day 01: (May 14): Arrive at Kathmandu airport then transfer to hotel (1348m)
Day 02: (May 15): Full day of sightseeing of Kathmandu valley:
Day 03: (May 16): Fly to Lukla (2886m).Trek to Phakding (2610m) - 3.5 hours:
Day 04: (May 17): Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m.) - 6 Hours:
Day 05: (May 18): Rest day at Namche Bazaar (3440m) for acclimatization:
Day 06: (May 19): Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche (3867m.) - 5 Hours:

Day 10: (May 23): Acclimatization day in Lobuche. Run 2 / 3 hours on your own and hiking around the khumbu glacier and Italian pyramid. Stay overnight in Lodge

Day 11: (May 24): Trek to Everest Base Camp (5364m) via Gorakhshep (5180m.) 6-7 Hours:
Day 12: (May 25): Trek from Gorakhshep to Kala Patthar (5545m.) - 4 Hours:
Day 13: (May 26): Rest day in Gorekhshep. Relax and acclimatize.
Day 14: (May 27): Hike to Everest base camp and back to Gorekhshep for stay overnight. This day running practice around 30 minutes only and relax day.
Day 15: (May 28): Hike to Everest Base Camp (17,593ft). Full marathon runners’ schedule: This morning will be a mock start for the race. Stay overnight at Tented Camp.
Day 16: (May 29): Race Day. Race starts at 7:00 am and finish at dusk. Full marathon from Khumbu Ice Fall at Everest Base Camp to Namche Bazaar (3440m).
Day 17: (May 30): Rest day in Namche Bazaar.
Day 18: (May 31): Around on lunch time, Non runner trekkers meet the runners at hotel in Namche Bazaar and will trek descend together to Monjo (2800m).
Day 19: (Jun 01): Trek descends to Lukla (2886m.)- 4 Hours:
Day 20: (Jun 02): Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu:
Day 21: Drop you to the international airport for your final flight departure. 

Suggested Itinerary in Details: 21 Days

Day 01: (May 14): Arrive at Kathmandu airport (1348m): and you will be met by our airport representative and transferred to hotel, Evening free and overnight at hotel in Kathmandu. B.B

Day 02: (May 15): Full day of sightseeing of Kathmandu valley:
After having Breakfast we take you for the sightseeing tour in Kathmandu Valley including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa. Overnight  stay at Hotel. B.B

Day 03: (May 16): Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2860m) and Trek to Phakding (2650m) - 3.5 hours:
Early morning drive to Airport for the 35 minutes scenic flight to the small mountain airport Lukla, after reaching at Lukla our guide will introduce with the porters, then start today’s trekking following mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi, it is easy trekking and takes about 3 and half hour to reach at Phakding. Overnight at Guesthouse. B.L.D

Day 04: (May 17): Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m.) - 6 Hours:
We continue our trekking following the Dudh Koshi River and crossing it many times and we enter to the park in Jorsale and we will stop there for lunch and again we continue the trekking, after few hours walking Namche Bazaar will appears ahead as you travel along the path surrounded by pines. Pass the plateau where the Saturday bazaar is held and enter the village. Namche Bazaar (3440m) is surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges and opens out only where it faces the Dudh Koshi. The village is a central hub of the area and food, sundries and even mountain climbing equipment may be purchased here. Overnight at Guesthouse. B.L.D

Day 05: (May 18): Rest day at Namche Bazaar (3440m) for acclimatization:
Namche is tucked away between two ridges amidst the giant peaks of the Khumbu and has an abundance of lodges, tea shops and souvenir shops as well as a magnificent outlook. It is an ideal place to spend a rest day for acclimatization to the high altitude before heading off towards Tyangboche. For the acclimatization we walk up to Khumjung village through Everest view Hotel in Syangboche and you will see the beautiful view of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest. Khumjung is densely populated by Sherpa community and there is an old monastery as well so, we will visit that as well, and then Return to Namche. Overnight at Guesthouse. B.L.D

Day 06: (May 19): Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche (3867m.) - 5 Hours:
We start our trekking with the ridge and level mountain path that offers an excellent panorama of Thamserku, Khantega, and Kusum Kanguru, after walking few hours on flat Zigzag we descend to the river and arrive at Phunki Tenga. Then we climb through Rhododendron forest to the Tyangboche. Overnight at Guesthouse. B.L.D

Day 07: (May 20): Trek from Tyangboche to Dingboche (4260m.)- 5 Hours:
We start our trekking with descending through Rhododendron forest to the Imja Khola and cross exciting suspension bridge on the Imja Khola and walk passing by a long Mani stone wall to enter the village of Pangboche. Our route continues through summer pastures to Dingboche. Overnight at Guesthouse. B.L.D

Day 08: (May 21): Rest day at Dingboche (4260m.) for acclimatization:
Today is the remarkable acclimatization day. There are some breathtaking views of the North face of Ama Dablam and the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge as you explore this beautiful valley that leads up to Island Peak. The walk is short with a good chance to relax in the afternoon. You have another option as you can hike up to Chhukung Valley. From where, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Island peak, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Tawoche Peak and others. Overnight at Guesthouse. B.L.D

Day 09: (May 22): Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4930m.)- 5 Hours:
The onward Himalayan journey leads us north for up to 50-minutes until we come to a mani-prayer Stupa then The trail is gentle looking down to Pheriche village below. Today's walk offers views of the Mt. Tawache, Ama Dablam and to the north-Pokalde (5741m) Kongma-tse (5820m) and the great wall of Nuptse. After two hours of walking, the trail from Pheriche joins near Dugla (4620m) before a small wooden bridge over the river of Khumbu glacier. Then continue for an hour up a steep hill to the top, where there are views of Mt. Pumori and other peaks west of Everest. After a short break, continue trekking up to Lobuche. Overnight at Guesthouse. B.L.D

Day 10: (May 23): Acclimatization day in Lobuche. But during the day hiking around the Khumbu Glacier and Italian pyramid. The rest time relax for reserve energy. Stay overnight in Lodge

Day 11: (May 24): Trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5364m) via Gorakhshep (5180m.) 6-7 Hours:
We start our trekking following the rocky moraine path, view icy glacial pond and icebergs down below of Khumbu Glacier. After the last rocky moraine dunes, a short downhill walk brings you to Gorakhshep, where we will stop for lunch and we leave all our stuff there at lodge as this is the last place where there are lodge available – then we start our Himalayan journey to the Everest Base Camp- WOW !!! Congratulation!!! Your Dream come true now, after visiting sometime in the Base Camp then we return to Gorekhshep. Overnight at Guesthouse. B.L.D

Day 12: (May 25): Trek from Gorakhshep to Kala Patthar (5545m.) - 4 Hours:
Quite Early morning, we climb to Kala Patthar (5545m.) and enjoy the view of sunrise. From Kala Patthar we can have a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and many other mountain peaks like Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku and many more, after sunrise view trek descend down to Gorekhshep and have lunch and rest. Overnight at Guesthouse. Day 13: (May 26): Rest day in Gorekhshep. Relax and acclimatize. During the same day meet the running group and medical check. Stay overnight in Guest house / lodge.

Day 14: (May 27): Hike to Everest Base Camp and back to Gorekhshep for stay overnight. This day running practice around 30 minutes only and relax day.

Day 15: (May 28): Hike to Everest Base Camp (17,593ft). Full marathon runners’ schedule: This morning will be a mock start for the race.

Day 16: (May 29): Race Day. Race starts at 7:00 am and finish at dusk. Full marathon from Khumbu Ice Fall at Everest Base Camp to Namche Bazaar (3440m). Non-runner schedule: After breakfast we’ll gather to watch the first runners come in around 10:45 am. During the running time, we will have check point on the following places: - 1st check point – Gorakh Shep, 2nd check point – Periche , 3rd check point – Phunge Thenga after Thyangboche , 4th and final check – Namche Bazaar (finish line), Race finish is at dusk.

Day 17: (May 30): Rest day in Namche Bazaar. However for nun runner trekkers will trek descend down to Tyangboche (3867m)- 4 Hours:
Now, we are trekking back to Tyangboche, an easier descent passing through rhododendron forest. It is a small village with a famous monastery offering you the splendid view of Ama Dablam, green hills and river views. Overnight at Guesthouse. B.L.D

Day 18: (May 31): Around on lunch time, Non runner trekkers meet the runners at hotel in Namche Bazar and will trek descend together to Monjo (2800m).

Day 19: (Jun 01): Trek descends to Lukla (2860m.)- 4 Hours:
Today is the last day of your trekking; the trekking is pleasant, during this day trek along the way to Dudh Koshi River. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring you to Lukla. Overnight at Guesthouse. B.L.D

Day 20: (Jun 02): Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu:
We will take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu, Free time, Shopping- Overnight at hotel. Overnight at hotel. B.B

Note: If you are interested on other activities in Nepal such as Chitwan Jungle Safari, Pokhara Tour, Lumbini, Paragliding and Ultra Flight then you can start now.

Day 21: Drop you to the international airport for your final flight departure. Trip finished.

ich war mit Ammar , meinem Trekking Guide , vom 13.05.2009 bis zum 01.06.2009 auf dem Everest Base Camp Trek unterwegs.
